Frankly I think Deborah is on the right track here. Teachers/educators are all too enthusiastic to get across what is not relevant to the stage of development. Their reasoning is always to to with what the child will need to know in life. I say, with development, there is time enough for that to happen. That applies as much to learning about the carbon cycle and global warming (if you think that's relevant) as much as it does to understanding the human reproductive cycle.
